Zambia Air Services Training Institute was established in 1968/9 to produce human resource required for the Zambian civil aviation industry. The Institute's operations have evolved over the period such that they now have not only the local but also the regional and global character. It is a fact that aviation, in any nation contributes significantly to the promotion of economic growth, development and improvement of quality of life and increase in the social interaction of all citizens.
For the aviation industry to be sustained there is need to have a steady and reliable supply of experts to keep the industry running and meet the Civil Aviation Authorities' requirements. In order to address the above needs the Government of the Republic of Zambia, through the Ministry of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education and its Management Board, is committed to ensuring that the TEVET System, as mandated to ZASTI, provides the necessary training to the expectation of all stakeholders.
To effectively perform its functions and meet the current and future needs expectations of industry, Department of Civil Aviation and Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority in its performance and quality of training provision, the Institute ensures that its Strategic Plan is constantly and timely reviewed.
The intention of the reviews is to try to refocus the Institution's operations for the purposes of consolidating on gains made in the past as well as to prepare to meet the new challenges within the context of the TEVET Act no. 13 of 1998, as amended.
Currently ZASTI is offering civil aviation related training programmes, namely;
In addition to these programmes, ZASTI provides short intensive aviation related courses under the Schools of Engineering, Ground Services, and Flying.
Since it's establishment in 1968/9, the Zambia Air Services Training Institute (ZASTI) has produced the finest aviation experts in the world, providing thorough and professional training. ZASTI is responsible to Technical Education, Vocational andEntrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA) on matters relating to training standards, examinations and certification processes, and to the Department of Civil Aviation on matters relating to aviation safety and regulations.
To effectively provide quality training and support services in order to contribute to safety and growth of the aviation industry.
To become a center of excellence in aviation training in the sub-region and beyond the borders by the year 2030.
